Hale Homes to Support Ambitious Fundraising Event

NEATH-based Hale Homes is supporting a local charity tour that is aiming to raise £20,000 for Cancer Research UK and Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Tour 94 will see six friends from Skewen, near Neath, travel to the 92 English football league grounds as well as Wembley and the Millennium Stadium within the space of a week. The event will begin at Swansea City’s Liberty Stadium at 8.30am on July 25.

The near 3000 mile journey will see the friends raise funds for their chosen charities as well as raise awareness for cancer and leukaemia by meeting survivors of the disease and carers who have helped family members.

Tour 94 selected to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research after two members of the team lost their fathers to the disease.

After the tour has been completed, a charity fundraising auction will be hosted at Glyn Clydach Hotel on September 11, in Neath. The team will sell memorabilia collected on the tour. John Hartson, a former Welsh international football player and cancer survivor, is a guest speaker at the event.

To support the tour, Hale Homes has agreed to become a Platinum sponsor for the tour and is donating £500 towards the event as well as helping with promotional efforts.

Ruth Jones, Sales Manager at Hale Homes said: “Cancer Research is particularly close to our hearts as our Managing Director’s Father-in-Law passed away from this dreadful disease along with three members of staff.

“We’re delighted to support this very worthwhile tour, especially with such close local connections to the six participants. We wish them the very best of luck during their journey.

“By supporting Tour 94 as well as Cancer Research UK and Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research we’re hoping to help those currently affected by the illnesses as well as support the researchers currently working hard to develop the latest treatments and cures.”

Jeremy Dummer, part of the Tour 94 team said: “We are extremely grateful to Hale Homes for their sponsorship, particularly from a local company, which means that we are that much closer to our target of £20,000.”

Tour 94 has the backing of over 17 companies and its supporters also include former Welsh international footballer Nathan Blake and former Olympic sprinters Darren Campbell and Christian Malcolm.
